Last night saw the induction of the new Headteacher of The John Fisher School. The Right Reverend Bishop Howard Tripp, Canon Jim Pannett and Father James Clarke were the celebrants of our Induction Mass for our new Headteacher Mr P E McCullagh. We are blessed that the three celebrants inducting our new Headteacher have been past students of our school. This year also saw the ordination of three former students to the priesthood: James Cadman, Matthew O’Gorman and Mark Higgins. The evening was a special event as we also welcomed a number of new staff to the school. The mass was beautifully sung by the choir of whom we are rightly proud. Mr McCullagh commented that “it was a lovely occasion and I am thankful to all those who helped in the organisation of the mass. I can now appreciate the scale of the challenge ahead having been in the school this half term. It is going to take a community of leaders to help this school make the transition from being a good school to becoming a great school which is what our students deserve. If we can act in accordance with our Christian and shared values then it is certainly possible.” All in all it was a fitting induction for our new Headteacher, Mr P E McCullagh.
