In this unit of work you will complete a range of activities on the theme of WAR. This will include: propaganda; the Great War artists; remembrance; everyday life in wartime. You will explore this theme through a variety of mediums and technique, culminating in a final piece which expresses your interpretation of the theme of WAR.

IDENTITY

In this unit of work you will complete a range of activities on the theme of IDENTITY. This will include: art work on you and your interests; your family; and your wishes for the future. You will also explore different mediums as well as develop an understanding of light and shade.

FOOD & DRINK

In this unit of work you will explore a range of styles and media leading to a mock-up of food packaging of your own choice. You will explore detailed observation of food  items, packaging, typeface, logos and much more.

Lettering

LETTERING

In this unit you will be developing your understanding of lettering from different times and cultures. This will be an extension to your design project on packaging and company branding.

Paper Sculpture 

 

PAPER SCULPTURE

In this unit you will explore different ways of sculpting with paper, exploring the work of artists in this medium. You will experiment with cut-outs, pop-ups and much more. Your final piece will be a book cover using the various techniques you have explored.

Viewpoints

VIEWPOINTS

In this unit you will explore different ways of representing form and shape, as well as understanding perspective and viewpoint. You will also develop an appreciation of how artists, including the Cubist pinters, included different VIEWPOINTS in their work .

PATTERN

Over the cousre of the Spring Term you will explore PATTERN through a range of activities and tasks. You will have the opportunity to discover patterns in nature and how these have influenced artists such as William Morris. Using your own designs you will explore repeat patterns and apply your designs to wallpaper and other household objects.

IMAGES OF PERFECTION

In this unit you will be introduced to ‘Disability Awareness’ as the starting point for developing a modern Icon on the theme of ‘Images of Perfection’. You will develop ideas through discussion on the Christian theme of ‘being made in the image and likeness of God’ and produce work as a response.

CELEBRITY

In this unit CELEBRITY will be the vehicle for developing your ideas and imagination. You will explore the work of artists such as Julian Opie and Andy Warhol. You will experiment with various mediums including computer software in order to produce your final image of a favouite celebrity.

MASKS

In this unit MASKS will be the vehicle for developing your ideas and imagination. You will explore the issue of slavery, both historical and modern day. You will complete a range of tasks culminating in the design and creation of your own mask.

Life Events

LIFE EVENTS

You will explore how artists have been influenced by significant LIFE EVENTS. Using different media images you will develop an understanding of how to tell a story through the visual image. You will experiment through your own storyboard a life event from different perspectives.

Social Comment

SOCIAL COMMENT

In this unit, you will explore your response to issues surrounding working conditions for people in developing countries. The relationship between these local working conditions and multi-national corporations will be discussed. Your work will be a personal response and make take a variety of forms.

Summer Assignment

In this assignment you will have the opportunity to respond to the theme, Pick and Mix. You will develop your drawing and observational skills and you will look closely at the work of the artist Sarah Graham.

Year 10 into Year 11 - NEW

Summer Assignment


Over the summer break Year 10 pupils are expected to complete any outstanding work for their Personal Portfolio, which is worth 60% of the final GCSE grade.

Year 11 into Year 12

Summer Assignment

In this assignment you will have the opportunity to respond to the theme of Decay in a creative manner, whilst developing the ability to use skills sensitively and appropriately to your intentions. You should look at the work of a range of artists and analyse their work. You should become aware that Decay as a theme can be responded to in many ways.

Pre-study Task - NEW


For your first assessment in September you will respond to the theme ‘Alternative Views’. This should relate to your surroundings and could include your bedroom, kitchen, garden, holiday, transport, your desk, breakfast table etc.

Year 13 Related Study Guide - NEW


This is where you outline the purpose, focus or mission of your study. This may include question/s you are going to answer; themes you are going to explore; issues you hope to address etc. It should set the scene for the project and may include reasons for selecting a topic and an indication of how / why the topic is of related relevance or interest to you.

In this assignment you will have the opportunity to respond to the theme, Street Culture. You will develop your drawing and observational skills and you will look closely at the work of the artist.
