Five of our brightest mathematicians have achieved excellent results in the European-wide Kangaroo Competition. They were entered for the European Kangaroo challenge after gaining a gold certificate in the Intermediate Maths Challenge 2016. The Kangaroo Challenge is run by the UK Mathematics Trust. The charity, whose aim is to advance the education of young people in mathematics, organises the annual competition and other educational enrichment activities.
All students performed very well, however we are delighted that Thomas Starkie and Thomas Irmiger achieved a Merit on the Pink Kangaroo. This meant they were in the top 25% of 8000 students entered world-wide. Thomas Starkie achieved a score of 111 with the top mark being 135. In addition to this, Thomas Irmiger scored 84 in the Pink Kangaroo.
Well done to all students: Matthew Colverd in Year Y10, Jake Hill, Chris Marin, Thomas Irmiger and Thomas Starkie in year 11, who took part on their achievements
