On Thursday 6th of October we had the annual Apprenticeship/Careers day. The event was well attended by the year 11 students and their parents and we had a great range of colleges and businesses to answer different questions from them.
This year organised the event differently. We used the new Sir David Lane building, and took advantage the many rooms to spread out the providers and allow for easy flow in and out of the rooms. The students and their parents/carers went round the rooms visiting them and this allowed for the students and their parents/ carers to take their time and ask questions that were pertinent to themselves.
We had an organisation called Frontier, the representative spoke to the boys about another option; Choosing a gap year during which they could be involved in volunteering anywhere in the world. This was new because a lot of boys did not know they had this option before they completed their A Levels.
Other providers include The Army
CBRE (A company that trains apprentices)
Capel Manor College
East Surrey College
UKSA (A Company that trains apprentices)
A good deal of work was put in to make the evening informative and interesting so thanks go out to Mr Andrew Dean and the Careers team in the school who made sure the evening was a success.
