Everywhere I looked I could see happy faces. Everyone just full of joy and smiles. Oh, and covered in red, blue, yellow, orange and pink coloured powder...
The Colour Run is exactly what you'd think. You run for 5km and pass through points getting loads and loads of coloured powder thrown all over you. Whether you were running for fun, to beat a record or to raise money for a charity, it certainly is an amazing event.
I, as well as other volunteers and friends of Daniel Spargo-Mabbs, were running for the latter.
The DANIEL SPARGO-MABBS FOUNDATION is an amazing charity and one I have been a part of for a few months now as a youth ambassador. I can honestly say it is a privilege to be able to help to raise awareness for them as well as funds for their latest project: to help fund a tour for a commissioned play to educate young people on the dangers of drugs.
Daniel Spargo-Mabbs was a bright and loveable young boy who was totally admired and adored by his peers, teachers, and family. On the 17th of January 2014, Dan was taken to hospital after attending an illegal rave and taking a large dose of MDMA. Three days later, around lunchtime on Monday 20th of January, he died.
The family of Daniel as well as some of his friends started the charity to help raise awareness of the dangers of drugs to young people so the story of Daniel doesn't become the story of other young people.
So far we have raised £915 from the Colour Run. However, you are still able to donate this fantastic cause via the link below as well as seeing in more detail what the charity does and the full story of Daniel.
