Third Round of the United Nations Association Debating Competition

09 Feb 2017

John Fisher is through to the Third Round of the United Nations Association Debating Competition

On Wednesday 8th February Miss Smith took two of our Yr 12 debaters to St Philomenas' for the Second Round of the UNA national debating competition. The motion up for discussion was  " This house believes nuclear disarmament and conflict prevention should be pursued rather than replacement of Trident." John Fisher was opposing the motion. Alex McColgan and Aaron Conmee were debating.  They had prepared well and were ready with their arguments having been 'grilled' earlier in the day  by the Yr 10 debating club which meets every Wednesday lunchtime. When it came to the debate the judges were very complimentary about the amount of research which both sides had undertaken and were impressed with the level of rebuttal.  They commented on the Aaron's persuasive summary and the depth of arguments from both Alex and Aaron. In the third round we will be facing Nonsuch school.
