Congratulations to sixth-former Ted Williams who was the winner of the Croydon Champions 2014, Charity Volunteer of the Year Award at a special ceremony at the Hilton Croydon on Wednesday 26 November.

This Tuesday Fr James enrolled six more Year 8 boys into the altar servers' Guild of St Stephen – Javian Corera, Carmelo Marino, Adonay Bekit, Christopher Martinz, Michael Monfries and Luke Fitzpatrick. They were presented with their medals and certificates in a special ceremony in our School Chapel in front of pupils from their own year group

On Thursday 20th November  all Year 12 students took part in our annual Speed Careers event. Introduced a few years ago, Speed Careers is based on the 'dating' process where students travel from table to table to gather information on a range of jobs and careers.

On Monday John Fisher hosted the South London Panathlon Boccia Championships in our sports hall. Our Year 12 Sports Leaders ran the event which was attended by eight schools from across our region.

Congratulations to our U13 Rugby squad who were runners-up in the Surrey Schools Rugby Festival last week. It was a great day for the boys at the Festival in a new format this year. John Fisher has had considerable success over the years in this tournament and this squad of boys represented our school throughout the day in magnificent style.

On Monday morning the Sixth Form and Year 10 had the privilege and pleasure of a performance by a young inspirational hip-hop group going by the name of Misunderstood. Along with some really funky music they delivered a very positive message about the dangers of cyberbullying and staying safe on-line.

This year’s commemoration of Armistice Day was made more special as it is the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War in August 1914. Throughout this week every lesson, regardless of subject, had an element which commemorated some aspect of remembrance.

We were delighted to welcome journalist and broadcaster Robin Lustig to our school yesterday afternoon. He spoke to an audience of Year 11 and sixth-formers studying history, philosophy and ethics, and politics, as well as answering questions from a number of boys.
