Congratulations to our 2014 Jack Petchey Award winners who were invited to a special presentation evening at the Secombe Theatre, Sutton on Wednesday 2nd April. Each student received a special medal as well as a cheque for £200 to spend on our school community. Sutton's Mayor, Councillor Sean Brennan OBE presented each winner with their awards.

Congratulations to Mr Dean and Mr Miller who completed the Virgin London Marathon in support of the Blond McIndoe Research Foundation.

The two intrepid teachers completed the 26.2 mile course together in 4 hours and 48 minutes in Baywatch fancy dress costumes chosen by John Fisher boys, on one on the warmest London spring days.

The John Fisher School's sports leaders top the national leaderboard for sports volunteers. The Youth Sports Trust's Sport Volunteer Passport records the number of hours each week that students give to coaching, managing and officiating at sports events in the local community.

Congratulations to Aiden McNulty in Year 13 who was awarded the first ever Young Person of the Year Award for London – a ‘YOPEY'. This is a most prestigious award which follows his award of a ‘Diana  Award' in February. Aidan was presented with his Award by David Lammy MP in front of a packed audience at Hatfields Conference Centre.

On Friday our U18 7s squad reached the final of the 75th Rosslyn Park National Sevens Tournament – the world’s largest school rugby competition. Reaching the final was a fantastic achievement for the boys, along with their coaches Mr Gold and Mr Davies.

On 18th March students from Years 7, 8 and 9 were visited by Aliah from the Eastside Educational Trust who put on a Storytelling and Drama workshop on behalf of the English Department.

Congratulations to our U13 7s squad for reaching the quarter final of the Roslyn Park National Colts Tournament, losing only once all season to the event

Sixth-formers David Ashby, Chris Kerrigan, and George Hervey, took part in a sponsored skydive in support of St. Raphael’s Hospice, Sutton last Sunday. The jump took place on Old Sarum Airfield, Salisbury. So far the boys have raised over £600 for the hospice which cares for those with life-threatening illnesses in our local community.

On 21st March, a group of Year 8 students were visited by Daily Mail columnist Charlotte Kemp to learn all about life in a real-life newsroom. The boys spent the whole day researching news stories, learning about different journalistic roles, conducting interviews and submitting articles to their chief editor in order to produce their very own copies of 'The JFS Times'.
