The John Fisher School 16-19 Bursary Policy
(Academic Year 2015-16)
The 16-19 Bursary aims to help the poorest students continue their education. Bursaries have now replaced Education Maintenance Allowances (EMA) - however, nationally the total money available for 16-19 year old students fell from £575m in 2010 to £180m in 2012, a cut of two-thirds. For students previously in receipt of the highest level of EMA, transitional arrangements were in place for 2011-12, after which the EMA replaced the 16-19 Bursary Fund. All students aged 16-19 at The John Fisher School who are experiencing financial hardship may apply for the Bursary, which will be administered as set out in the policy document.
